Home Blueberries About the Farm |
We have nearly 700 organic blueberry bushes that ripen between mid-July and mid-August. The bushes fill nearly an acre. The photo above shows the blueberry bushes in flower in late May, 2009. We follow organic growing practices. To prevent crop damage from insects, we're working closely with the smart folks at UNH Extension, who are helping us monitor our crop. This year we're treating our crop with spinosad, an organic compound listed as approved for use in organic production by OMRI (the Organic Materials Review Institute). Lots of other organic farms use OMRI-approved methods for dealing with insects. In general, our field ripens from left to right. |
